Final Fantasy 16 includes a variety of side quests for you to tackle during your journey through Valisthea. We compiled all 76 side quests available in the game, as well their rewards, location, and when you can take them on.

Spoiler warning

Although we won't discuss any story details on this page, some side quests may make nods toward story beats that happen at different points in the game. In addition, we have locations listed for each of the side quests in the game, which some may consider a spoiler.

Side quests can appear in any location in Final Fantasy 16, though most start in the game's hub area, The Hideaway. You'll see a notification in-game whenever new side quests appear. In addition, shortly into the game, you'll unlock the Alliant Reports desk that will show you side quests that take place outside of the Hideaway.

Essential Side Quests in Final Fantasy 16

Although there are many side quests in FF16, a few of them are more important. These side quests are noted by a green plus instead of the green exclamation point you typically see. If you see a side quest with this mark, you know it leads to an essential upgrade for your journey, not just Gil and Ability Points.

Here are the essential side quests to tackle in Final Fantasy 16:

  • The White-Winged Wonder
  • Blacksmith's Blues
  • The Root of the Problem
  • Weird Science
  • Blacksmith's Blues II
  • Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol
  • Blacksmith's Blues III
  • Even Weirder Science
  • Blacksmith's Blues IV

There are more side quests to do if you want to unlock all the collectibles, too. See the Wall of Memories Guide for a list of the Side Quests you need to do to collect them all!

Can You Miss Side Quests in Final Fantasy 16?

You can't miss most side quests in Final Fantasy 16, though some become locked later in the game. If you want to finish all side quests, make sure to complete all available side quests up to the Righting Wrongs main quest. After that quest, the remaining side quests in the game will be available through the end, and you'll be able to complete them after the credits roll.

In addition, some side quests are directly tied to others, so you'll need to complete the prerequisite quests before they'll appear. In addition, some side quests won't appear on the map and are only accessible through the Reading Table in Clive's Chambers.

Quest Lockout and Quest Priority

advertisem*nt

At certain points during the story, you won't be able to progress certain side quests. This is called Quest Lockout, and you'll know you're locked out of a quest if you see a small lock next to the quest marker. In most cases, progressing to the next story beat will unlock the side quest.

When you have the chance to tackle side quests, you can prioritize three at once. When accepting a quest, you have a chance to prioritize it, but you can also set your quest priorities through your Journal.

Prioritized quests will appear on the right side of your screen under the main quest, and they're numbered. That means if you need to travel to different locations for different quests, you can pick out which quest the marker is referring to based on the number.

If you're uncertain about which side quests are available at any point in the game, you can use the Alliant Reports desk at The Hideaway to get an overview of quests available across Valisthea.
